Le Tissier designer Lynette Meek is inspired by traditional colourwork and lace patterns, and adds her own very colourful and beaded touch to many of her knitworks.
The Expresso Shawl, on the left, is “a traditionally constructed Shetland Lace Shawl, starting from the center and working out. The patterns are all traditional to Shetland lace, but are not always used in the traditional manner.”
Many of Lynette’s designs for shawls, hats, gloves and mittens include colourful beads, adding a rich texture and sparkle to the knitting. Inspired by traditional arygle are the Classic Argyle Beaded Gloves shown on right.
The colourful traditions of Eastern textiles and Shetland Fair Isles are used in the Eastern Florals collection of socks, and Skye Gloves shown below. Lynette is also well-known for handpainting her designs with a myriad of colours creating one of kind artworks.
